ABOUT
Founded by Ozan ‘Ozzie’ Fikri, Fikri Films is an independent Australian film production company based in the beautiful Southern Highlands of NSW.
What began as the awe of a young boy who witnessed the ability of film to captivate an audience, take them on a journey and move them to an unexpected depth of emotion, has evolved into pure passion and incredible talent.
Ozan ‘Ozzie’ Fikri was 12 years old when he discovered the extraordinary power of film and cinematography. He became infatuated with it, learning everything he could, observing the different techniques and styles used by cameramen, producers and cinematographers to seduce an audience and draw them into another world – even if only for the length of the film.
He started as the lighting boy for a small enterprise on the Sydney wedding circuit in the late 1980s and it was here that he developed his love of wedding cinematography. It was so much more than simply recording a wedding. It was being able to convey the depth of a relationship, the union of families, the beauty of a location, the significance of the commitment and ultimately, the celebration of love.
When DSLR cameras came into being, an entirely new perspective was given to photography and cinematography and it was from here that Ozzie was truly able to hone his incredible skill.
Fikri Films was founded in 2012 when Ozzie pulled together some close friends and family to shoot a short 6-minute film called ‘Initiation’ – a submission for Tropfest, Australia’s prestigious and world-renowned short film festival. The flame was ignited and there was no turning back.
To date, Ozzie has shot over 50 weddings, more than 300 advertisement videos, three short films and hundreds of real estate property videos. He produced and shot a 13-part television series for Channel 44 TVS (Television Sydney), titled Highlands TV. This aired three times a week, including 7pm Friday night - prime time! Ozzie has also produced and shot a dozen music videos, one of which ‘In the Daylight’ by Nicky Gillis hit #1 on the UK CD charts in September 2017.
Ozzie’s passion for cinematography shines through in all his work. Just as he first discovered as a young boy at the cinema, the ability to move an audience to tears…to evoke deep emotion…to alter a perspective…to convey a message…to create an everlasting memory… is not something that can be taught, it is an innate and unique gift.
